Moving to the cloud is not a win by itself; planned wrong, both the bill and the complexity grow. Done right, it brings scalability, resilience and controlled cost.
The difference is between "moving the server" and "building the architecture for the cloud." We look at the engineering side first: we understand the load, the data flow and the cost items, and then decide on the move together.
What is cloud migration?
Cloud migration is the process of moving your existing software and data from your own server (or old hosting) to cloud infrastructure.
But the real value comes from adapting the application, as you move it, to the cloud's advantages (auto-scaling, managed services, redundancy). Copying the server to the cloud as is (known as lift and shift) can be a fast start; yet the real savings and resilience appear once the architecture sits on the cloud's logic.
Migration approaches
There is no single right method; we choose based on the state of the application:
- Lift and shift: the application moves to the cloud with little change. It is fast, but leaves most cloud advantages on the table.
- Partial improvement: the database moves to a managed service, scaling and backups are handed to the cloud. For most organizations this is the balanced option.
- Re-architecture: if load and growth require it, the application is rebuilt with cloud services (containers, queues, auto-scaling).
We decide which one is right for you by discussing your current load and goal; most of the time we follow a phased path.
When does the cloud make sense?
- Variable load: if your traffic rises and falls, pay-as-you-go saves money.
- Need to scale: if you want elastic scaling instead of buying hardware as you grow.
- Resilience: if you need a redundant infrastructure with low tolerance for downtime.
- Maintenance burden: if you want to reduce physical server and operations load.
This service is for you when
- Your traffic is variable and you do not want to tie money to fixed hardware
- You want to scale elastically as you grow
- Redundancy and uptime are priorities
- Your current cloud bill has gotten out of control (cost optimization)
Hold off when
- Your load is small and steady, current hosting may be enough
- You would migrate only because it is "trendy"
How we work
We run the migration in reversible steps that reduce uncertainty:
- Assessment: we review the current application, data and load; we answer what will move, which service becomes managed, and how cost will be controlled.
- Target architecture and cost map: we lay out the structure we will build on the cloud and the expected monthly cost up front; we do not want surprise bills.
- Phased migration: we move the parts in order and, where possible, run the old and new environments in parallel for a while.
- Data migration and verification: we transfer the data preserving its integrity and verify the numbers and behavior after the move.
- Go-live and rollback plan: we go live with a plan to return quickly to the old state if something goes wrong.
- Monitoring and optimization: we set up post-migration scaling, alerts and cost monitoring, and trim unnecessary spend.
We do not just move it; we adapt the architecture for scalability and cloud cost optimization.
Where have we worked?
Our migration and scaling experience comes from real and demanding environments. We carried out migrations in high-volume, payment- and security-critical systems where uptime and data integrity were non-negotiable.
On the manufacturing and e-commerce side, we moved the infrastructure of resource-management-heavy systems to the cloud; on AI-supported platforms, we worked with cloud setups centered on managed services and integration. The common thread is that every migration decision is made on engineering grounds: the balance of load, cost and risk.
Our approach to existing systems and other vendors' software
Most organizations do not run a single piece of infrastructure: your own software, off-the-shelf products and components built by other vendors all work together.
We take over the existing system as is, and we can also migrate software written by another vendor to the cloud by studying its code base and integration points. Our goal is to move part by part, safely, without breaking the working whole.
Why Aforsoft?
In cloud migration the real difference is telling apart moving a server as-is from rebuilding the architecture for the cloud. We weigh which is needed across the balance of load, cost and risk.
Aforsoft has been based in İzmir since 2018 and, because the process runs fully online, serves clients across Türkiye remotely. We plan the migration without downtime and get cost and scalability right from the start.
Frequently asked questions
Will our service experience downtime during migration?
The target is minimal downtime. We plan the migration in phases and lower risk with parallel running where possible and a rollback plan. In many cases the final cutover happens in a short maintenance window the user will not notice.
Will my cloud cost increase?
It can increase if set up wrong; set up right, it usually drops. With auto-scaling and the right service choices we turn pay-as-you-go into reality, and we can optimize an existing bill too. We map the expected cost before migration so there are no surprises.
Which cloud provider?
It depends on the need. We recommend the provider based on your load for managed databases, scaling and cost; we are not tied to any single provider. If needed, we compare several options on cost and fit.
Is our data safe?
The data-migration plan, encryption and authorization are designed from the start; data integrity during migration is our priority. After the move we verify that the data arrived complete and consistent.
How long does migration take and what does it cost?
Duration and cost depend on the size of the application, the volume of data and the chosen approach. That is why we run a short assessment first and then share a clear scope and an estimated budget.
Do you take over maintenance and operations after migration?
If you wish, yes. We can stay with you as a periodic technical partner for post-migration monitoring, scaling settings and cost tracking; or we prepare the setup to hand over to your own team.
Can you touch our existing system and another vendor's software?
Yes. We take over the existing system as is, and we can migrate software written by another vendor to the cloud after reviewing it. We take time to understand the code base and integrations first.
I am outside İzmir, can we still work together?
Yes. We are based in İzmir but work across Türkiye and remotely. Cloud migration is by nature work that can be carried out remotely.
Can we move back if we change our mind about the cloud?
Because we plan the migration in reversible steps, a rollback plan is always ready at the cutover stage. If you are unsure, we can start with a small part and see the result first.
